Dee (Dereika) Pinder

Dee is a sociologist and instructor of record at UGA (go dawgs) and PhD student specializing in medical sociology and health, with a focus on the social determinants of health and their impact on marginalized communities. Originally from the Bahamas, Dee began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in memory care in 2021, where she developed a deep understanding of caregiving and its emotional and social dimensions.

Now pursuing a doctoral degree in sociology, she brings a unique perspective to research, combining firsthand caregiving experience with academic inquiry. As a dedicated mom, she balances parenthood with her passion for advancing knowledge and advocating for equitable healthcare solutions.
